The purpose of this position is to provide perimeter and operational security services within a high security forensic mental health facility.

This includes observing/monitoring patient behavior and supporting the patient care process.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Operating the Atrium security equipment and ensuring it is in proper working order
  • Key/Card control management including screening persons and incoming materials/goods and mail for prohibited and restricted items
  • Monitoring and activating all emergency systems/codes and responding to all emergency codes according to established procedures
  • Processing of patient admissions to and discharges from the facility
  • Performing security checks and searches as assigned
  • Observing patient behaviour and reporting relevant observations to the appropriate unit

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Province of Ontario Security Licence
  • Valid G Class Ontario Driver's License
  • Completion of Incident Management Systems 100 (Emergency Management Ontario)
  • Completion of the IAHSS Basic Training preferred and/or Mandatory completion after hire
  • College Level Security or Law Enforcement Diploma and/or 2 years of recent Hospital Security Experience preferred
  • Additional specialized security training and certification in healthcare/mental health care setting preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of safety and security principles and practices
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, analytical, customer service and organizational skills
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to adapt readily to change
  • Models and promotes core ethical practice, Waypoint Values, and reflects an optimistic and positive attitude
  • Preference for proficiency in French/English language
  • You must meet the requirements of our COVID19 Immunization Policy by providing proof of full vaccination, or a request and receipt of an accommodation under the Ontario Human Rights Code, including a medical exemption.
