PROFILE

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Processing timesensitive trust transactions (deposits and payments) as directed by professionals real estate transactions, settlements, etc.
  • Preparing daily bank deposits for client's trust funds.
  • Issuing cheques to allow for payment of client's invoices from trust funds and obtaining signatures
  • Attending bank to make deposits and/or obtain certified cheques.
  • Processing incoming and outgoing wire transfers.
  • Preparing paperwork for funds invested in Term Deposits/GIC's, on behalf of clients, including investment of funds, interest, withdrawals and reconciliations.
  • Responding to inquiries from staff and professionals regarding firm and trust accounting guidelines.
  • Reconciliation of several firm operating bank accounts and research/rectify statement errors.
  • Cash receipts processing and analysis.
  • Ad hoc financial reporting and analysis.
  • Any other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Postsecondary courses in accounting with approximately 35 years working in a similar position
  • Experience in a law firm would be an asset.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with other firm members, with the aptitude to take care of internal clients' needs in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Ability to handle a heavy and varied workload.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem solving skills, including the ability to set priorities while dealing with conflicting and emerging priorities.
  • Capacity to work independently, as well as in a team environment.
  • Produce a high quality and quantity of work product, under tight timelines.
  • Ability to handle stress in a businesslike manner.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite, accounting software, banking procedures and the Aderant Expert accounting system will be considered an asset.
