We are hiring one (1) Full Time, Permanent

Inspector, Private Development working out of Rossdale Water Treatment Plant in Edmonton, AB


As the Private Development Inspector, you will be responsible for conducting all necessary site inspections during the construction of drainage facilities on projects funded and initiated by Developers, as well as processing Construction Completion and Final Acceptance Certificates through site inspections and reviewing the required documentation.

What you'd be responsible for

Reporting to the Private Development Manager, the Private Development Inspector will be accountable for, but not limited to:

  • Ensuring the delivery of optimal results against appropriate performance metrics, including:
  • Completing CCC/FAC (Construction Completion Certificate/Final Acceptance Certificate) and CCTV (Closed Circuit Television Video of installed sewers) reviews within 30 calendar days
  • Ensuring all inspections are conducted within 30 days of an approved prescreen submission in City of Edmonton's ePlan platform and submitting the required report within 14 days of the inspection.
  • Monitoring daily construction activities and reporting decisions to variances from the construction standards/drawings, while ensuring construction follows approved engineering drawings, construction standards and special conditions in servicing agreements
  • Providing inspection services for the installation of drainage infrastructure in accordance with the Drainage Services Environmental Management System (ISO 14001)
  • Accepting contributed assets, such as drainage Infrastructure into inventory
  • Participating in safety activities, including hazard assessment reviews, onsite safety inspections and observations, and filling out daily FLRA's
  • Ensuring construction follows approved engineering drawings, construction standards and special conditions in servicing agreements by providing interpretation of City of Edmonton Design and Construction Standards and Specifications
  • Coordinating inspection activities with operations for CCC/FAC
  • Ensuring all customer complaints are addressed prior to CCC/FAC sign off
  • Liaising with other City/EPCOR departments to coordinate solutions to design conflicts, citizen complaints and infrastructure failures
What's required to be successful

Qualifications, experience and behaviors you will possess are:

  • Completion of a two year Civil Engineering Technology diploma from a recognized post-secondary educational institute
  • Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) with A.S.E.T. or eligible for registration as a CET with ASET
  • A minimum of 7 years of directly related experience with drainage construction and inspection, including Construction Completion Certificate (CCC) and Final Acceptance Certificate (FAC) processes
  • Knowledge and experience in drainage design and construction (storm and sanitary, storm water management facility, ditches, culverts and erosion and sedimentation controls)
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license (or provincial equivalent)
  • Physically able to work outdoors on construction sites in variable weather conditions
  • Ability to demonstrate considerable knowledge of technical and engineering principles and practices related to work assignments
