The person who fills this role will be a key member of the OMERS Corporate Finance team

Our ambitions are high:
we aim to be the best corporate finance team in the Canadian pension industry.

As a member of this team, you will be responsible for:
Preparing monthly journal entries and accruals

Preparing monthly account reconciliations, including intercompany accounts, investigating, and resolving differences in a timely manner

Preparing financial statements, note disclosures, and portfolio reports for various special purpose entities

Assisting with estimates and projections of account balances for quarterly forecast submissions

Coordinating with external auditors for fieldwork

Identifying, enhancing, and supporting process improvements

Participating in technical training and development opportunities

Other contributions, as the team may need and as opportunities arise

To succeed in this role, you have:
A CPA professional or working towards the designation

Very strong communication skills - high level of interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication

Tech savvy - highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Resourceful - strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to research

And you demonstrate:

Founded in 1962, OMERS is one of Canada's largest defined benefit pension plans, with $121 billion in net assets as at December 31, 2021.

OMERS is a jointly-sponsored pension plan, with 1,000 participating employers ranging from large cities to local agencies, and over half a million active, deferred and retired members.

OMERS members include union and non-union employees of municipalities, school boards, local boards, transit systems, electrical utilities, emergency services and children's aid societies across Ontario.

Contributions to the Plan are funded equally by members and employers.
