Huronia Transition Homes

Project Coordinator:
Project B.A.S.E.

TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Overview

Huronia Transition Homes (HTH) is an intersectional feminist organization in Simcoe County, working to end all violence against all women.

HTH firmly believes that inequality perpetuates violence against women, as articulated in its mandate. The agency focuses on educating, advocating, and exposing women's inequality.

Since 2019, Huronia Transition Home's "Project B.A.S.E." (Building Accessible Supports and Education), has been working to reduce barriers for civilian and non-civilian members of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) to receive specialized services and training on sexualized violence.

Project B.A.S.E will continue to respond to the need for counselling, emotional support, and legal and medical system navigation for members of the CFB Borden community who have experienced sexual abuse.

The project's goals are to meet the unique needs of CAF members who have experienced sexual abuse by:

  • Decreasing barriers to specialized services through onbase counselling provision;
  • Increasing CAF member knowledge of consent and sexual abuse through onbase training; and
  • Increasing stakeholder knowledge of existing programing through support service network collaboration and service mapping.
