The Communications department is responsible for the College's reputation and brand management, and developing strategic communication initiatives that align with the organization's mandate, values and goals.

This involves engaging with patients, the public, Ontario dentists, industry stakeholders and College staff.

The department creates content for and manages the RCDSO's various digital platforms, including the College website, intranet and social media accounts.


You will be responsible for contributing to the Communications department by providing internal communications, media monitoring and event management support, as well as assistance to the department director and manager.


You are a self-starter, who requires mínimal direction, enjoys working collaboratively in a team environment and takes pride in their work.

What can I expect to do in this role?

Reporting to the Manager, Communications, you will:

  • Lead the management of events, including: location booking; event planning; arranging for technology support; confirming appropriate staff attendance; arranging teleconferences and videoconferences, rooms, food and refreshments; communicating with parties and relevant stakeholders
  • Manage internal requests for communications support including Survey Monkey set up, video production and design requests
  • Assist in Council support for live meetings and preparation
  • Manage external requests for information from police services
  • Provide administrative support to the Director and Manager, Communications, performing such duties as: scheduling and setup for meetings, managing calendars
  • Participate and provide assistance to the Director and Manager with projects and initiatives related to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, policy and standard updates, communications with public and profession
  • Update and maintain department documents and forms used internally to ensure various department processes run efficiently and effectively
  • Provide administrative support to department as required
What skills and background do I need?

The Communications Coordinator requires:

  • Degree or diploma in communications, public relations, or journalism, or equivalent experience preferred
  • One or more years of communications experience with administrative and strong customer service expertise
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organization skills with knowledge of project management
  • Flexibility to pitchin and work closely within a team environment
  • Ability to organize and prioritize assignments
  • Excellent analytical and criticalthinking abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including a highlevel of diplomacy, patience, and discretion
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat Pro
  • RCDSO is building its bilingual (French/English) capacity and excellent French language proficiency is an asset
Compensation and Total Rewards

  • Base annual hiring salary from $57,604 to $64,803, commensurate with experience
