The Canadian Press is Canada's national news agency, trusted by leading media brands to deliver fast, accurate and impartial reporting for more than 100 years.
For government and corporate clients looking to anticipate and earn potential coverage, we provide Canada's only media forecasting platform, alerting them in real time to CP wire stories that will be published imminently by countless websites, or that are likely to appear in tonight's radio/TV newscasts and/or tomorrow's newspapers.
Responsibilities:
- Collect, prioritize, and track product and platform requirements. Coordinate requirements gathering across sales/marketing, technology, and account management teams.
- Define and maintain detailed integration plans and schedules for the development and delivery of the features and functionalities of the new platform.
- Track and manage project risks, status, and deliverable timelines.
- Liaise and communicate with external vendors and with CP executive leadership to propose, manage, and stick to project budget.
- Presentation of program plans, development updates and achievements to management and business.
- Conduct regular technology and metadata audits to ensure this new product abides by CP's broader data governance and technology standards.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in similar role preferably in the media industry.
- Handson experience building software solutions.
- Experience with structured and unstructured data feeds (text), defining data models and creating new data tacks and data warehouses.
- Hands on experience with AWS tools for big data ingestion, processing, visualization, and implementation.
- Experience with serverless computing, APIs, relational and serverless databases.
- Excellent program management skills in project planning, milestone tracking and execution.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Working knowledge of live media monitoring and PR platforms.
- Experience with statistics, data science, data governance and machine learning is a plus.
- Experience working with data mining and data analytics solutions.
- Experience in product design, wireframing, responsive interface design and user flows are a nice to have.
