OPPORTUNITY

Tikva Housing Society is a charitable non-profit housing society that operates 168 units of affordable rental housing in Vancouver, Burnaby, and Richmond as well as a Rent Relief program that provides temporary financial assistance to people renting in the private market. Tikva's housing portfolio is growing, and we are looking to expand our staff team.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Housing Development Coordinator is responsible to support the ED in developing new housing initiatives, acting as a resource for the Acquisitions Committee, and building and maintaining relationships with housing-related partners.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Develop new housing initiatives

  • Identify and evaluate potential affordable housing opportunities through property acquisitions, potential partnerships with other affordable housing societies, responding to Requests for Proposals, etc.
  • Negotiate on behalf of Tikva Housing with local municipalities, investors, developers and potential partners, a range of affordable housing opportunities.
  • Liaise with donors and secure private and government funding:
    • Apply for grants from government and private organizations.
    • Prepare and submit proposals in response to requests for proposals.
    • Manage funding received.
    • Meet with donors/funders as required only for potential acquisitions.
Qualifications
  • Relevant undergraduate degree or diploma in real estate development
  • 2 years of real estate development experience
  • 2 years of non-profit housing experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Organization and budget management experience
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Knowledge of Federal and Provincial housing programs
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Experience writing proposals
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Strong organizational and task prioritization skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally
  • Self-motivated, professional and flexible
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage tight deadlines
  • Ability to handle multiple demands and competing priorities
  • Knowledge of the Jewish community is an asset
Compensation

This is a part-time contract position. The successful candidate should expect to spend an average of 20 hours per week. The hourly fee is between $40 and $50. Work remotely and in the office.
