Job Purpose:

  • Maintenance workers actively work to ensure that our facilities and equipment are clean, functional and safe. They also coordinate proactive maintenance of facilities and equipment. This position will work for our offsite programs and our main downtown site providing support to the Lead Maintenance worker and Building Facilities Manager.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Working with the Lead Maintenance Coordinator and Facilities Manager this position will:_
  • Respond to maintenance needs as they arise in a timely fashion.
  • Repair and maintain building equipment and appliances as needed and support Maintenance Lead to coordinate repairs with outside contractors as needed
  • Perform minor and major repair of all buildings and equipment. (Major repairs are performed under the supervision of licensed maintenance workers.)
  • Completes daily, weekly and monthly checklists on building equipment maintenance procedures
  • Performs outside custodial duties such as snow removal as required.
  • Understand and observe all safety procedures and practices in order to prevent injury to self or co

- workers.
  • Helps plan and build smaller renovation projects on sites. replaces broken windows; repairs doors, door locks and closets; installs window blinds etc.
  • Assists with the renovation/remodeling of buildings; repairs plaster and drywall; painting, plumbing, yardwork, minor electrical and carpentry work.
  • Other job duties as may be required
    Qualifications:
    Education:
  • High school or trades school certification
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license, vehicle and basic hand tools
  • Criminal Record and Child Intervention Checks (results will be reviewed on a casebycase basis)
  • All positions at BSCS require First Aid and CPR employee should have this ideally before commencement of employment

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in oneonone and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to solve problems quickly, creatively and ethically.
  • Proven ability to work in a respectful and customercentered manner.
Able to communicate effectively and have excellent oral communication skills. Able to work effectively as a team as well as independently, willingness to learn. Flexible and adaptable to change

The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move more than 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and depth perception.

Experience:

  • At least 12 years experience in building construction or renovation.
  • Experience working in a customeroriented environment
