Position Responsibilities- RDPs Health Care Aide program prepares learners to be part of a health care team and provide a high level of front-line care to clients in need of assistance in a variety of different settings. Red Deer Polytechnic is licensed to deliver the 2019 Alberta Health Provincial Curriculum. This is a full-time credit program with nine courses which include blended learning (virtual real time classes) with a combination of virtual and in-person lab components, two clinical placements, and one preceptorship.
- This program prepares students to work as a Health Care Aide in acute care facilities, continuing care facilities, hospitals, as well as in the home setting. A Health Care Aide assists individuals needing care in a variety of ways including assisting with eating, dressing, washing and moving.
- This program consists of a variety of learning approaches including online readings, assignments and lessons, inperson labs with a certified instructor, and inperson clinical placements. This program follows the Government of Alberta approved Health Care Aide 2019 curriculum and successful graduates are eligible to write the provincial exam to be certified as Health Care Aides in Alberta.
- Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
- Facilitating students in clinical, lab and theory settings.
- Providing oversight when students perform skills or procedures.
- Creating a stimulating, effective, and learnercentered environment.
