Gold Investment Management Ltd. is a boutique portfolio management company located in downtown Edmonton. We are seeking a permanent, full-time Portfolio Manager or Associate Portfolio Manager to join our team.

Under the guidance and supervision of Senior Portfolio Managers:

  • You will work closely with our clients to build long-term relationships and deliver the high-touch discretionary investment services that they have come to expect of our boutique firm. In order to discharge our "Know Your Client" ("KYC") obligations, you will perform annual and periodic client reviews.
  • You will assist with new client onboardings, development of Investment Policy Statements ("IPS"), Investment Management Agreements ("IMA") and make investment recommendations to Senior Portfolio Managers. As part of this process, you will assess investment needs and objectives, a client's ability and willingness to take on risk, and recommend suitable portfolios based on a number of assessment factors.
  • Act as a member of the Investment Committee and conduct security specific and sector research to assist our firm with meeting "Know Your Product" ("KYP") obligations. You will learn and consider our firm's investment philosophy and assess tax efficiency, trading costs and other factors when assisting with the decisionmaking process.
  • You will assist in portfolio construction, rebalancing strategies and trade execution, including pretrade and posttrade analysis to ensure portfolios are managed within their investment objectives.
  • Assist with charging client fees and a range of recurring monthly and quarterly tasks to upkeep the firm and compliance obligations.
  • You will generate and analyze performance and risk reports while using multiple management systems.
  • Assist with our quarterly reporting and corporate reorganization processes, and complete ad hoc project work.

Qualifications:

  • BCom, Finance or MBA, Finance, or similar.
  • Passed CFA Level I exam or possess the CIM designation.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong communication, problem solving, organization and attention to detail.
  • The ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage a wide variety of duties.
  • Ability to maintain the highest standards in any task, even when working with strict deadlines.
  • A natural aptitude for providing toptier service and fostering relationships with clients, colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Adherence to high ethical standards and ability to stay mindful of compliance obligations while performing tasks.

Experience:

Previous registration as Associate Advising Representative (AAR) or Advising Representative (AR) or 2 years of relevant investment management experience.
