JOB SUMMARY:

Leading Quality Assurance and Food Safety Practices for Grand River Foods Ltd. by helping to instill quality into every facet of every role within the facilities and offices.

Responsibilities:

  • Guide the development and growth in understanding of Quality across the division and in all roles.
  • Be at the forefront of customer interactions during the development of new customer relationships and the maintenance of existing ones.
  • Oversee the development of industry leading statistical analysis processes, techniques, tools, and metrics.
  • Monitor, and develop as required, key metrics for Quality performance.
  • Review results and trends daily, weekly, and monthly from the plants, and provide analysis and Senior Management/Executive Team
  • Work closely offering guidance and support where needed to Plant Managers, the QA team, and all other departments.
  • Ensure a robust Quality training and evaluation system is in place for all staff.
  • Oversee corrective action processes at facilities including any internally or externally identified issues.
  • Perform facility and process audits directly and audit the integrity and quality of internal audits performed by other staff.
  • Ensure the development and monitoring of a robust supplier quality system, including ratings, evaluations, the use of the information and integration into purchasing activities and audits.
  • Monitor the investigation and followup of consumer complaints.
  • Review all official responses to both external and internal customers.
  • Be an intricate part of the Food Safety Recall Team
  • Follow job responsibilities as per BRC and other regulatory bodies.
  • Lead the development, and maintenance, of the Further Processing unified Quality System. Expand the system to cover all functional areas across the division so that Quality is a key part of all departments functions.
  • Share best practice and continuity across our operational network.
  • Liaise with the CFIA to stay current on regulatory changes, ensure regulatory compliance, and share food safety developments with all stakeholders.
  • Review and ensure job descriptions for the QA Team are kept current.

Requirements - Experience and Education:

  • Master's or PhD in biology, biochemistry, or food science.
  • Minimum 57 years' work experience in Food manufacturing as a Quality Assurance Manager.
years supervisory/management experience in meat or secondary processing.

  • Extensive knowledge of Food Regulatory requirements for primary and secondary processing.
  • Certified Animal Welfare or Internal Auditor an asset.
  • Quality System development & Implementation.
  • Strong knowledge of HACCP, BRC, SQF and Food safety / Quality Management programs.
  • Knowledge and experience with CFIA CVS process.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
  • High level of integrity and work ethic.
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
  • Proven leadership, teambuilding and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in ReadytoEat facilities an asset.

Requirements - Skills and Knowledge:

  • Solid understanding of product formulation controls and documentation.
  • Experience developing training programs relating to corporate food safety policies/program.
  • Internal and supplier auditing experience.
  • Knowledge of statistical process control.
  • Experience in successfully implementing and managing GMP and FSEP programs.
