Duties
  • VM-01 Veterinarian:
    Maintaining health standards in the food and livestock sectors, including ensuring meat hygiene and animal health. Conducting inspections and certification of animals and meat products for both local and international markets. Responsibilities also include animal disease monitoring, food recall, and emergency response.
  • VM-02 Supervisory Veterinarian:
    Tasks encompass overseeing operations in slaughter establishments to implement, manage, and enforce the Meat Hygiene Program. They are also in charge of ensuring compliance with legislations and regulations and managing personnel.

Essential Qualifications You Must Meet

  • Graduation from a recognized veterinary school as defined by specific criteria.
  • Eligibility for membership in a Canadian veterinary association.
Conditions of Employment

Requirement for a Reliability Status security clearance. Applicants who have resided outside Canada may need to provide police certificates from relevant countries. Failure to comply will result in application disqualification.

Additional conditions include adherence to various CFIA policies, possessing legal work status throughout employment, willingness to travel/work varied hours, and maintaining a valid driver's license among others.
