(TNPI) operates regulated pipelines to safely transport the refined petroleum products (gasoline, diesel, aviation, and heating fuel) used by Canadian businesses and consumers every day.

***Reporting to the Manager, Land & Damage Prevention, the Team Lead, Damage Prevention is accountable for managing the key elements of the Damage Prevention Program including Crossings Management, Public Awareness and ROW Management with specific focus on protecting the pipeline(s) from potential Third-Party damage. The Team Lead, Damage Prevention plans, develops, documents, executes, and assesses the effectiveness of the Damage Prevention Program for management reviews and regulatory activities. This position is responsible for providing expertise to ensure day to day operations are conducted in adherence with regulatory requirements, operational excellence, and sound industry practices in all 3 provinces in which we operate.

OEMS


This job is accountable for ensuring that all aspects of work comply with safe work practices, all applicable codes, standards, regulatory requirements and TNPI's Operational Excellence Management System (OEMS) and provide feedback on potential improvements.

This job performs their job effectively safely, securely, and in a manner protective of the environment, and complies with TNPI rules and requirements.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Damage Prevention

  • Document and review processes pertaining to the Damage Prevention Program
  • Collaborate regularly with the Manager, Land & Damage Prevention to determine continuous improvement initiatives for the Damage Prevention Program and provide annual updates on the improvements.
  • Proactively approaches Damage Prevention programs and communication strategies to meet the requirements of Damage Prevention Regulations
  • Obligations of Pipeline Companies and Authorizations and Pipeline Rules.
  • Maintains uptodate understanding and knowledge of industry regulations and guidelines associated with damage prevention and public awareness regulatory requirements and expectations.
  • Prepare, analyze, and summarize various monthly, quarterly, and annual key performance indicators, creating reports, specifications, instructions, and flowcharts.
  • Provide support to Field Services executing damage prevention activities including ROW Maintenance and Surveillance; locates and inspections.

Crossing Management

  • Provide continuous improvements to crossing processes.
  • Interface with third party contractors, developers, and engineers and potential partners to define project parameters and proposal scenarios.
  • Ensure the maintenance of the tracking system to manage the effectiveness of TNPI crossing program, as well as provide monthly reports on crossing activities across both systems.
  • Review and execute APPL Crossing Agreements

Public Awareness

  • Provide support to Communications Team in the development and distribution of Damage Prevention specific Public Awareness materials and messaging.
  • Coordinate or execute as required property owner notifications pertaining to damage prevention hazards and near misses.
  • Periodic review and maintenance of all Damage Prevention and Public Awareness materials
  • Identify external Damage Prevention stakeholders and communicate messaging to the affected audiences.
  • Support Public Awareness initiatives of Joint Pipeline Committee for Ontario or similar industry groups in Alberta and Quebec
