We are looking for a highly skilled Manager--Early Learning and Child Care to work with schools and outside agencies to lead and support early learning initiatives and programs in the VSB. Reporting to the District Principal of Early Learning and Child Care, the Manager will supervise multiple Strong Start Centres, support students and families with successful transitions to kindergarten, and collaborate with community partners to establish robust early learning opportunities for Vancouver communities. They will also work with Child Care providers in the VSB to support quality experiences for students and families in existing child care spaces and support the creation of new spaces.

The successful candidate will possess strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills, with the ability to effectively supervise 19 Strong Start Centres, 1 Seamless Day program, and the necessary on-call staff to operate these programs (25 staff in various roles at various sites). They are able to collaborate effectively with other school district professionals to provide a variety of learning opportunities for ECE and Kindergarten teachers following the Early Learning Framework, assist with online registration for Strong Start Programs, and support the organization of Welcome to School events for incoming Kindergarten students at all 89 VSB schools. Collaboration with multiple community partners and schools to support early years and child care initiatives is an essential part of this role.

Qualifications and Experience:

Must hold a Bachelor's Degree (not a Diploma) in a relevant discipline: Education, Social Services, Early Learning

Must have a minimum 5 (five) years extensive knowledge and experience in Early Learning and Child Care

ECE Diploma preferred

Knowledge of, and ability to support the implementation of the Ministry of Education and Child Care's Early Learning Framework in Strong Start Centres and schools

Knowledge of licensing, Child Care funding, policies, and reporting requirements

Experience supervising unionized staff and budgets

Strong organization, communication, and presentation skills

Ability to work collaboratively

Proven skills in conflict resolution

Expertise in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams etc.)

MyEducation BC experience is an asset
