Paragon is currently seeking Soil Handling Monitors to join our team. Title and compensation will be commensurate with experience.

:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervision of conservation and reclamation activities along pipeline rightsofway or on mining leases.
  • Assisting Project Managers with various tasks as they arise.
  • Other responsibilities may include but are not limited to
:

data management through the collection, entry, synthesis and reporting phases; site seeding; vegetation control; preparing various formats of field reports; ground disturbance preparation; hazard assessments; accurate completion of chain-of-custody forms and delivery of samples to the lab; and assisting with biophysical scopes of work such as soil survey.


  • Providing input on how best to use the technology available to us to improve the reclamation process.
  • Attending workshops, meetings, and other similar events.
  • Exercising good judgment in situations that are not covered by policies and procedures.
  • Pursuing continuing education and participating in conferences and workshops.
  • Preparing regular, timely and accurate timesheets, expense reports and other relevant documentation.
  • Assisting with equipment maintenance and safety.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

You must have the following attributes:

  • Have completed or are working towards a Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Applied Science or Diploma in a reclamationrelated field from a recognized postsecondary institute.
  • Eligibility to register with the Alberta Institute of Agrologists (AIA).
  • An absolute, genuine dedication to working safely.
  • Ability to work productively independently as well as in a team setting.
  • Resultsoriented and efficient, with excellent problemsolving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an affinity for working respectfully with colleagues, contractors, and clients.
  • Proficient with computers and software, especially Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook (at least an intermediate level of proficiency).
  • Comfortable using advanced GPS units or tablets.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License, with clean drivers abstract, able to travel throughout the provinces and work weekends when necessary.
  • Physical capacity for strenuous fieldwork including walking long distances through rough terrain.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous experience in a related role that included reclamation scopes of work such as soil salvage, soil placement, and/or revegetation.
  • Previous experience with predisturbance soil survey and/or postreclamation assessments.
  • Safety Certificates
:

First Aid, Advanced driver training, GDII, H2S, OSSA, CSTS, PCST, WHMIS, Bear Aware, ATV/UTV/Argo.

  • ATV/UTV/Argo experience.
  • Demonstrated competence in conflict management.
  • Current registration with the AIA.
  • Plant identification skills.
  • Understanding of agricultural practices.
