Position Overview:

Guidepost Montessori Canada ULC (doing business as Guidepost Montessori) has an immediate opening for our schools in Toronto, Ontario. Guidepost Montessori is owned by Higher Ground Education.

The General Manager for Montessori Pedagogy ("General Manager") is responsible for managing the delivery of high-quality, high-fidelity Montessori pedagogy at schools in the Higher Ground Education ("HGE") system of schools to ensure their near and long-term success.

The General Manager will establish objectives for the school's programs for training and coaching of teachers and will formulate and approve such school programs.

The General Manager will create, lead, and maintain one or more model Montessori classroom(s).

The General Manager allocate human resources and select qualified, capable teachers to lead other classrooms at the General Manager's portfolio of schools.

The General Manager's activities include inspiring, leading and managing teachers and other school staff toward strategically improving school health by growing enrollment, hiring, and retaining staff members, engaging parent communities, and ensuring high-quality programming.

The General Manager must have mastery of Montessori pedagogy and significant teaching and school management experience.


The General Manager also is responsible for maintaining a detailed understanding of each school's needs and ensuring that it receives management support at the right time.

Management support can take many forms, including coaching, modeling, guidance, feedback, accountability, authorizing and organizing additional departments and senior staff to provide support from across departments and regions in the HGE system.

Furthermore, the General Manager has an unique responsibility as a cultural touchstone for our HGE.

The General Manager will represent Guidepost Montessori in communications with outside agencies, such as accreditation bodies, local licensing authorities, and trade organizations.


Term of Employment:

Permanent and full time (40 hours per week).

Responsibilities:

Ensure Critical School Outcomes:

  • Manage the delivery of highquality, highfidelity Montessori pedagogy at schools in the Higher Ground Education system of schools to ensure their near and longterm
  • Establish objectives for the school's programs for training and coaching of teachers.
  • Monitor enrollment, student and staff retention, program quality, and profitability at every school.
  • Partner with other teams as needed to ensure that each school is tracking effectively toward steady state capacities and profit
  • Conduct school visits to 1) assess school culture, program quality, and facilities, 2) establish, deepen, and maintain connections with school personnel, and 3) remediate difficult or challenging situations.
  • Create, implement, and improve scalable processes and business
  • Represent Guidepost Montessori in communications with outside agencies, such as accreditation bodies, local licensing authorities, and trade organizations.

Training and Coaching:

  • Observe and study Montessori programming offered at HGE schools and provide recommendations to the School Success Team and Chief Programs Officer regarding management support for the school communities.
  • Regularly attend 1:1 meetings with school teaching staff, school leadership, School Success Team, and other teams as needed to deliver and implement recommendations.
  • Formulate and carry out training and coaching programs to support school teaching staff to delivery highquality Montessori lessons, reporting to the Chief Programs Officer.
  • Participate and lead ongoing network sponsored professional development, training, retreats, and offsite team workshops.

Classroom Leadership:

  • Lead a model classroom of kindergartenaged students, including management and mentoring of all staff in the classroom.
  • Create and maintain an aesthetically appealing, safe, and clean Montessori prepared environment.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum bachelor's degree in education or a related field.
  • A Montessori Primary Diploma from the Association Montessori Internationale, American Montessori Society, or equivalent.
  • Minimum five years of work experience as a lead teacher at a Montessori school.
  • Minimum two years of work experience in a managerial role, such as academic director, school principal or head of school of a Montessori school or similar role.

Wage:


The wage range for the General Manager for Montessori Pedagogy position is between CAD $75,000 and CAD $78,000 per year, based on work experience and qualifications.
