What you will be doing:

Tax Strategy Development: Develop and implement the company's overall tax strategy, focusing on minimizing tax liability while maintaining compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Policies and Procedures: Development of tax policies and procedures.

Tax Planning: Identify tax-saving opportunities, credits, and deductions while maintaining a strong ethical and legal approach to tax planning.

  • Canadian SR&ED expense claim maximization.
  • Tax attribute utilization planning.

Financial Reporting: Lead tax reporting, including tax provision oversight, consolidation, disclosure, and controls.

  • Stay current with financial reporting standards.
  • Work crossfunctionally and with financial statement external auditors.

Tax Compliance: Ensure timely and accurate preparation and submission of all tax returns, including income tax, sales tax, and other regulatory filings.

  • Stay updated on tax laws and regulations to ensure complete and accurate compliance.
  • Direct the Canadian tax return compliance.

Financial Forecasting: Collaborate with the finance team to provide accurate tax rate forecasts and tax budgets to proactively support accurate financial planning.

Internal Controls: Identifying and executing on opportunities to improve processes and controls associated with the tax function.

Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams, including legal, finance, HR, and operations to provide tax guidance for various business initiatives.

Education

  • Undergraduate degree specializing in accounting, finance, or equivalent.
  • Completed the CPA In-Depth Tax Program
  • A professional accounting designation such as a CPA required

What you'll have:

  • At least 8 years of experience in Tax
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian Tax
  • Experience in preparation of corporate tax returns and income tax provision
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, including ability to work cooperatively with many different stakeholders and ability to manage outside tax advisors
  • Able to adapt communications style based on the audience, proven skill to synthesize complex technical concepts into plain language for nonspecialist audiences
  • Capacity to think critically about issues from a strategic perspective (options available, pros / cons of different options, proposed solution) and aptitude in researching accounting standards and related interpretive guidance

Salary:
$130,700

Pay:
Up to $130,700.00 per year
