Indigenous Education Program - Regina and Prince Albert Campus FALL 2024

- Working closely with the Associate Dean and Program Coordinator to ensure successful completion of student placements;
- Providing placement forms to the Indigenous Education students at the beginning of each term;
- Meeting with the Indigenous Education Program Coordinator and the Instructors prior to placing students in classrooms;
- Identifying field placements for students in the Indigenous Education program by contacting principals or equivalent to request placements;
- Interacting regularly with Supervisors in placement environments to address issues or concerns;
- Contacting the cooperating teacher to confirm placement(s) and providing all relevant information regarding the placement;
- Sending correspondence to the superintendents/directors, principals, cooperating teachers and student teachers
placement letters, field information and expectations, seminar dates, thank you letters and evaluation letters (Intern(s)/pre-intern(s)hip Placement Profile), or;
- Follow up phone calls as needed, contact with the schools must be maintained by the Field Coordinator;
- Organizing orientation/seminar sessions for placement students;
- Creating, maintaining and updating (as necessary) a manual for placement students and contact faculty to assist with the content, if necessary;
- Ensuring all field supervisors are in place prior to the start date of confirmed field dates;
- Maintaining close contact with the instructors of the course(s);
- Working with the Professional Development Office, Faculty of Education, University of Regina;
- Promoting positive public relations with all school boards, schools and education authorities in First Nations and Provincial jurisdictions;
- Organizing a meeting for students to meet with Directors of Education as required;
- Ensuring timely completion of placement reports as required;
- Attending Elementary and Secondary meetings, Mid-Term and Student Review meetings as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree in Education
;
- Relevant experience in teaching students in a postsecondary environment;
- Experience with remedial language teaching skills would be considered an asset;
- Superior communication skills (written and verbal);
- Be a selfmotivator who can work to achieve results while ensuring attention to detail and comply with academic reporting requirements;
- Experience working in a crosscultural environment and the ability to speak a First Nations language are considered assets.
SALARY:
Stipend for Field Coordinator is $7780 per semester

- a) Hybrid - on-site classroom:
students will attend in person in a designated classroom on scheduled days and times
b) Hybrid - remote:
students will attend remotely on Zoom on scheduled days and times- Hyflex Course- Courses are offered synchronously in person in a designated classroom on specific days and times.
The instructor will attend every lecture in person.However, students can attend on-site or attend remotely on Zoom with a level of flexibility on how they would like to participate each week.
