We are looking for a dynamic, experienced payroll profession who, if they have never done US payroll, is excited at the opportunity to learn and grow.

The Payroll Coordinator completes the weekly payroll process for their designated states for employees in the USA, works with OPM's ERP system to ensure accuracy as well as perform any additional tasks needed within the pay cycle.

They are responsive to employee inquiries and are attentive and familiar with union requirements.

Reporting Structure:

The Payroll Coordinator reports directly to the HR and Payroll Manager

Location:

This position is an in-office role located in South Surrey. Hours are 7:30am to 4:00pm Monday to Friday.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Process payroll for designated employees in the USA
  • Process union dispatches, terminations, and layoffs
  • Process receipts and reimbursements related to employee expenses
  • Process garnishments
  • Ensure union requirements are met
  • Update the payroll system with annual union increases and work with Systems Analyst to ensure fringes are updated and correct
  • Ensure all employee documents are stored electronically in the ERP and filed into employee personnel folders
  • Provide employment letters and employment verifications
  • Reply to state specific Unemployment Insurance and FMLA/Paid Leave inquiries
  • Process Affidavits for apprentice hours
  • Assist with maintenance and updating of data in Payroll/HRIS system
  • If time permits, be trained in all payroll functions and act as back up support for vacations

Experience, Education & Qualifications:

  • At least 35 years full cycle payroll experience working in a fastpaced environment
  • Union experience and knowledge considered an asset
  • PCP or PLP designation from the National Payroll Institute, or working towards designation
  • Proficient with MS Office, including Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • Experience with ERP software would be considered an asset
  • Experience in the construction industry would be considered an asset
