The Education Facilitator is responsible for the development and delivery of all education programs for the Marine Life Department, working closely with the Education Presenter and the Animal Care department.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Participating in the implementation of education programs, managing large groups of students, facilitating classes and activities for students.
  • Assisting with daily set up for classes and education programs, and focus all course activities on serving the needs and goals of the client or course curriculum.
  • Taking course bookings, confirm courses with customers along with providing course information to clients and liaison with existing groups on an ongoing basis.
  • Delivering presentations, monitoring touch pools and ambassador Sea Lion Shows.
  • Liaising with Education Partnership consultants and schools on course delivery and methods on attracting customers.
  • Assisting with planning of trade shows, research and creating educational props for use in courses.
  • Assisting with planning and delivery of spring Adventure Camps.
  • Assisting the Education Supervisor in the preparation of the Marine Life Education budget and maintaining a school/group data base.
  • Other responsibilities as required.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Completion of a postsecondary degree in education or related teaching course.
  • Working knowledge of the Alberta Educational system and ability to develop courses for the Alberta Education curriculum standards.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, a professional demeanor and a high level of confidence in the workplace.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs such as Outlook, Excel, Word and Power Point with the ability to easily learn different software programs.
  • Valid Class 5 Alberta Drivers' License and able to provide a clear Driver's Abstract.
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR certificate, or the willingness to attend training.

Terms of Employment:

  • This is fulltime position that requires flexible availability Monday through Sunday including days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • This position works in a busy mall environment primarily at attractions and in a classroom setting, as well as some city travelling to deliver educational courses.
  • Valid Class 5 Alberta Drivers' License and able to provide a clear Driver's Abstract.
  • Must be able to pass a basic security clearance.
