What you'll do

  • Act as a receptionist greet patients, clients, visitors and direct them to appropriate areas. Provide information services; respond to requests for information, such as location of facilities and personnel, telephone numbers and general information or refer to others. Maintain lists, staff directories and tidiness of reception area.
  • Operate a switchboard to answer incoming calls; obtain/provide information, transfer to the appropriate department/area, take/relay messages and/or pages as required. Respond to emergency signals in accordance with established codes and procedures.
  • Process incoming and outgoing mail; receive, open and date stamp incoming mail, packages, sort and distribute, prepares outgoing mail, sign courier receipts and send/receive faxes.
  • Perform a variety of clerical duties such as maintain files and office supplies, schedule appointments and book meeting rooms, as required. Perform general word processing and data entry functions; input information into computerized systems, prepare correspondence and reports. Complete forms.
  • Operates a variety of office equipment and carry out minor maintenance functions such as loading paper and removing jams and/or contact others for repair.

What you bring
***- Grade 12, Medical Office Assistant certificate, plus six (6) months recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

You will also have the ability to:

  • Be sensitive, tactful and diplomatic with clients and the public.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of general office procedures.
  • Type 30 w.p.m.
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Work independently and effectively with others.
  • Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act
  • Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and antiracism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).

$22.32 to $23.83 per hour
