Department Summary

Position to be based in Victoria (WFH)
The Business Development organization operates across Canada, building trusted business relationships with decision-makers at all levels of government.

Our mission is to expand Maximus Canada business with our current government clients and grow the business with new clients.

Working within a Business to Government (B2G) model, we develop awareness and interest with our target audience of government policy leaders, match our business offerings to the needs of our current and prospective clients, build trust with key stakeholders at meetings and events, and participate in complex and multi-step government procurement processes.


Position Summary


Under the direction of the National Vice President, of Business Development, the position will be accountable for planning and executing sales strategies within the British Columbia Provincial Government and associated agencies to achieve top line revenue and growth objectives.

Primary accountabilities include managing the pipeline of opportunities from deal inception to contract signing, establishing new partnerships and building pursuit teams, and effectively managing the engagement process through to capture maximizing revenue and profit generation.


Your Typical Week at Maximus

  • Generate new business leads through networking, leveraging existing contacts, and other sales techniques
  • Develop and maintain relationships with new and existing clients
  • Identify and understand clients' needs and tailor sales pitches and solutions accordingly
  • Achieve or exceed sales targets and objectives
  • Keep uptodate with industry developments and trends
  • Build an overall pipeline of opportunities that align with Maximus service offerings and market strategies
  • Achieve and exceed overall revenue targets
  • Direct multidisciplinary capture and proposal teams to respond to qualified procurement opportunities
  • Manage assigned expense and resource budgets effectively.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and execute targeted campaigns
  • Achieve annual sales goals and objectives.
  • Lead continuous development of new business opportunities leveraging new and innovative sales strategies to overcome obstacles and achieve results.
  • Interact with the client Executive team to lead, contribute and ensure execution of a welldefined account plan, considering marketing strategy, assigned customer targets, and client needs.
  • Develop and maintain key client and internal Executive relationships, providing leadership support for account strategies.
  • Maintain accurate and uptodate sales records and forecasts
  • Establish/manage Executivelevel relationships with key internal and external partners.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to continuously monitor and manage client expectations and ensure the delivery of contractual commitments.

What you offer us

  • 10+ years in business development, sales leadership roles and/or managed services.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or related field, or equivalent education.
  • Demonstrated experience dealing with the Province of British Columbia departments, and an understanding of government procurement processes.
  • Successful track record of pipeline development and winning new business
  • Experience in government program administration is an asset.

  • A strong leader with a proven track record of successfully working with virtual teams in a complex matrix reporting environment.
  • Experience and understanding of the Province of British Columbia's procurement and funding models.
