  • The Public Markets group manages a portfolio of fixed income, equity and absolute return investments representing approximately $142 billion utilizing both index and active management strategies. The group invests in Canada, the U.S. and Internationally in both the developed and emerging markets. Assets are managed using both internal management and external managers. The group uses a diverse mix of financial instruments including bonds, equities, and derivatives. In addition, the group is a leader in responsible investing actively integrating environmental, social and governance factors into our investment analysis and decisionmaking.

  • BCI provides investment management services to British Columbia's public sector, British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCI) partners with our 32 clients to generate investment returns that will help our clients provide a financially secure future to their members. With our global outlook, we seek investment opportunities that will meet our clients' risk and return requirements over time. As part of the prudent investment management of our clients' funds, we aim to mitigate the longterm financial risks that environmental, social, and governance (ESG) matters present. It begins with the integration of ESG considerations into our investment analysis, decisions, and processes in a consistent manner across the corporation. We also invest to leverage the benefits of ESG opportunities to generate attractive investment returns.

We invest across a range of asset classes:
fixed income; mortgages; public and private equity; real estate; infrastructure; and renewable resources.

  • WHAT YOU WILL GET TO DO
  • Based in our Victoria, British Columbia office, the Project Lead works under the supervision of the Director, ESG to support the daily operations of the Corporate ESG team. This position manages and tracks all team projects and deliverables ensuring that materials are delivered and frequently interfaces with other departments and asset classes to ensure on time and highquality work. The Project Lead will plan out annual deliverables and ensure that all timelines are appropriately mapped out against stakeholder deadlines. The position plays a key role in ensuring crosscollaboration and communication within the ESG team.
  • Monitors all team deliverables through participation in meetings, taking notes and tracking processes
  • Designs workplans and manages projects from start to finish, establishing timelines and monitoring internal and external milestones
  • Prepares and maintains documentation of internal processes working with various departments within BCI
  • In collaboration with the Director, ESG and the leadership team, prepares written reports, analysis, and presentations for reporting to senior managers and clients on ESG team activities
  • Supports the Director, ESG in the sourcing, design, and delivery of ESG education across the organization
  • In partnership with the Director, ESG, supports the collaboration and engagement of internal stakeholders across BCI (e.g. Corporate and Investor Relations, Finance, Investment Strategy and Risk, and Legal) to help the ESG team meet its objectives
  • Acts as the primary point of contact for external service providers, handling contracts, and supporting in the evaluation of new ESG services as needed
  • Works with Public Markets Operations on budget planning and management processes
  • Identifies efficiencies across the team to ensure resources are deployed to support the highest priority projects
  • Projects include, but are not limited to the ESG Risk & Opportunity Framework production plan; limited assurance of our carbon footprint; the PRI reporting and assessment process; ESG data platform deliverables; and tracking ESG integration work flow.
  • Leads and/or participates in special projects as directed by the ESG leadership teamWHAT YOU BRING
  • Relevant university degree and/or technical designations 35 years of relevant experience successfully working in a project management or business administration role, preferably within an investment or financial institution
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Passionate interest in ESG and financial markets, demonstrated through a strong knowledge of ESG principles and best practices and relevant frameworks
