The Speech-Language Pathology Team is a dynamic service across all hospital programs. We are seeking an experienced clinician to provide assessment and management for adults with swallowing and communication disorders. This role will provide corporate clinical coverage over the weekends and holidays. The position provides opportunities to work in a variety of units across the hospital, including but not limited to trauma, cardiovascular, neurology/stroke, and critical care.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The primary role of a Speech-Language Pathologist is to provide evaluation and management of swallowing and communication disorders.

QUALIFICATIONS:

-
Must be currently licensed by and in good standing with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO) for practice in all applicable clinical areas:

Must hold a Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology (or equivalent)Current BLS (or willingness to complete within probationary period):

-
Minimum of two years experience preferred in swallowing and communication assessment and management in acute care

Experience with assessment and management of communication and swallowing for medical-surgical patients of various disease presentation, and with tracheostomy tubes
:

Experience with videofluoroscopy, and holds current certification or is willing to obtain training in Modified Barium Swallow Impairment Profile (MBSImp) training:

Excellent communication, critical thinking and interpersonal skills:

Proven flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment:

Excellent time management, organizational and prioritization skills as relates to patient care:

- ** Demonstrated advocacy, commitment to and involvement with profession preferred (e.g. involvement with professional association, representation on relevant committees)
