Job Number:49922**Are you a motivated Paralegal with solid experience in General Litigation? Interested in taking your career to the next level? Legal Services is looking for a seasoned professional with demonstrated leadership skills to support litigation work.


In this position you as the Paralegal II (Litigation) would support and work directly with the lawyers of the Legal Services Branch to support the litigation process.


What will you do?

  • Gather, review, analyze, prepare and coordinate large volumes document production for multiple complex litigation matters with a construction focus
  • Provide expert advice with respect to legal hold processes, including strong knowledge of related legal principles
  • Independently draft, review and process various legal and court documents with a full understanding of pleadings used and procedural steps required for complex litigation matters (including multiparty, complex issues), as well as maintain legal records and track limitation periods to ensure
- important timelines required to commence a claim or take other required steps in litigation are met

  • Interact directly with client departments, external firms, unrepresented litigants, the court, and the public to provide legal information
  • Strong degree of independence, judgment and decision making including possible attendance at court or significant interaction with the public
  • Take a leadership role on internal projects such as those relating to efficiencies, workflow or modernization
  • Perform additional related duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Two (2) year Legal Assistant Diploma or Paralegal Diploma
  • A minimum (5) years of progressively responsible legal experience in area of general litigation

Skills required for success:

  • Knowledge of practice and procedure in area of litigation
  • Knowledge of legislation relevant to area of practice
  • Knowledge of legal research and litigation tools
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) along with interpersonal skills with a customer service focus
  • Time management and organizational skills to work well under strict deadlines and multiple commitments.
  • Ability to present a positive professional image and interact positively and effectively with coworkers, clients and public using patience and courtesy at all times.

Conditions of Employment:

$41.172 to $ Hourly); $72, to $90, Annually)
