Job Summary:


As a member of the Plant Leadership Team, the Assistant Manager - EHS will be responsible for ensuring the Health & Safety of the organization.

We are looking for a motivated hands-on leader who is highly focused on safety awareness, training, and continuous improvement.

This role is responsible to carry out a wide variety of duties for the EHS department and is responsible for the consistent delivery of the department's day to day support service operation.

This is a pivotal role as it involves working with all levels of the organization as well as front line staff at our facility.

Key Responsibilities, but not limited to:

  • Ensuring compliance with legislative and company requirements.
  • Working with: Ministry of Labour, Ministry of the Environment, and other regulatory bodies.
  • Researching, drafting and implementing policies to support company initiatives
  • Provide leadership in various areas, including: safety awareness, problemsolving and cost
  • Provide guidance to Management Team regarding solutions to ergonomic and medical aid incidents and implementation of EHS programs
  • Develop, strengthen and manage EHS systems within the organization
  • Manage WSIB and ESRTW programs
  • Training to all levels within the company on EHSrelated programs, policies and initiatives
  • Incident prevention through Risk Analysis, ergonomics review, information sharing and audit methods
  • Coordination of all emergency preparedness and response activities and training

What you will need to succeed:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field OR 5+ years of applicable experience preferably in industrial safety/ environmental management
  • Minimum 35 years management experience (automotive as asset)
  • Experience in the following areas:
  • Previous experience in some or all of the listed areas of responsibility
  • Interpersonal skills (relationship building, teamwork, interpersonal insight, conflict resolution, customer orientation)
  • Proven Leadership in driving a successful EHS team (setting pace, decisiveness, team development, ability to influence, organizational awareness)
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing priorities efficiently and effectively to meet targets and timelines
  • Curious and innovative mindset to continually adapt to everchanging business needs
  • Judgement and critical thinking (strategic thinking, judgement and decision making, problem solving, awareness)
  • Performance skills (accuracy with detail, planning, prioritizing, and organizing, efficiency)
  • Excellent Communication skills with audiences of all levels (verbal communication, persuasive impact, listening, written communication)
  • Intermediate/Advanced knowledge of MS Office
