_ Program Overview - After 4 Program, Homeward Bound_

  • The Homeward Bound program is an employment program for single motherled families transitioning from shelterlife to selfsustainable community living. The program includes skill development, college, internships and support for sustainable employment. Homeward Bound also offers affordable housing, onsite daycare, parenting program, an after4 program for school aged children, and full day programming for school aged children during March break, summer break, and PA days._

_ What You Will Do_
- _
Provide individual and small group tutoring for students in grades 1 through grade 8 (assessments, lesson plans, progress reports)._
- _ Support children with their current school work and assignments._
- _ Establish a learning environment through creative and innovative techniques that would motivate the students and ensure consistence attendance of students. _
- _Incorporate an interactive model of learning where students are engaged in their own learning._
- _ Implement instructional activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences._
- _ Facilitate learning as a guide and coach to assist the student to become a successful, independent learner._
- _ Integrate effective study and learning strategies to maximize the student's potential for academic progress._
- _ Incorporate effective study and learning strategies to maximize academic success (organization skills, time management, study habits)._
- _ Maintain ongoing contact with the parents regarding their child's progress._

_ What You Bring to the Team_
- _
University degree in Education or a related field._
- _ 1+ years of experience teaching or tutoring students in primary or secondary school. _
- _2+ years of experience working with young people who experience difficulty in attending school consistently and achieving academic success. _
- _Experience teaching students with Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and an understanding of how they are developed and how to integrate them in your teaching._
- _ OCT qualified is considered a strong asset._
