Program Lead, Peer Support Reporting to the Manager, Programs and Operations, the Program Lead, Peer Support, will play a key role on the CNIB BC/Yukon team.

By leading a team of staff and volunteers, this position will be responsible for the development, execution and coordination of Peer Support programs and initiatives.


Your impact at CNIB:

  • Recruit, train, engage and actively manage an integrated team of volunteers and staff who will be accountable for delivering and supporting peer support programs to people who are blind or partially sighted.
  • Developing and fostering an inclusive, empowered culture where every team member staff and volunteer feels their contributions towards our mission are equally valued and respected.
  • Developing implementation plans to maximize the success of the engagement of volunteers and participants in CNIB foundation peer support programs.
  • Leading and managing outcome evaluation processes as they relate to volunteer and participant engagement, using a national framework.
  • Serving as a key local ambassador for CNIB, representing and promoting the organization at all relevant external events.
  • Liaising at all levels with external community partners, agencies, donors, volunteers, staff, and participants to support and implement program and operational goals.
  • Developing, encouraging, and promoting effective partnerships and community relations that support CNIB Foundation's mission.
  • Effectively communicating CNIB Foundation key messages to external audiences through presentations, briefing materials and other communication materials.
  • Collaborating effectively with managers, peers, staff, and volunteers.

Requirements:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and superior interpersonal skills. Portrays the appropriate professional image.
  • Significant experience in program development and delivery, group facilitation, and innovative training initiatives.
  • Experience in 1:1 support and group facilitation.
  • Good relationship/team builder and networking skills with a variety of stakeholders
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills to work to concurrent and/or conflicting deadlines.
  • Proven success in leading and motivating teams of staff and volunteers
  • Results oriented, strategic, and flexible.
  • Passionate champion of diversity, accessibility, and inclusion issues
  • Ability to be empathetic, understand the grieving processes and have active listening skills.

We want to hear from you if you have:

  • Minimum Post-Secondary education or equivalent experience in a related field
years of experience in program development and implementation

  • Volunteer engagement and leadership experience
  • Personal and professional experience in peer support and accessibility relating to blindness and vision loss is an asset.
  • Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and sight loss is considered an asset.
  • Personal or professional experience working with assistive technology and/or accessible environments is considered an asset.

Work Environment:

  • Willingness to work flexible hours.
  • Willingness to work from different locations.
  • Some travel within BC/Yukon will be required.
