The City of Delta is looking for dedicated individuals to join our team and share in our commitment to lead the way in public service excellence.
The City of Delta seeks a temporary, part-time Diversity and Inclusion Coordinator to lead a one-year initiative that aims to enhance Delta's capacity to address the impacts of the pandemic on immigrants/racialized residents and better understand the needs and priorities of racialized/immigrant residents in Delta.
- Working closely with Social Planning Manager, coordinate and implement project activities;
- Attending community tables, facilitating discussions and leading the development of strategic goals/objectives to improve immigrant/racialized communities' outcomes in Delta;
- Working with local service providers to develop a better understanding of the gaps in service provision for immigrant/racialized communities; developing a report summarizing key findings;
- Developing a survey, analyzing and summarizing results;
- Liaising with City departments for project implementation; working closely with the Social Planning Manager and Human Resource Department on the City's Diversity, Inclusion and Equity Action Plan;
- Engaging with internal and external stakeholders to seek opportunities for collaboration; organizing the forum and leading the development of the Newcomer Guide;
- Coordinating communitybased research initiatives and workshops;
- Preparing draft reports to the funder;
- Other duties/responsibilities as assigned.
- At least 4 years experience in community development, equity, diversity and inclusion, immigrant integration or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience with a focus on developing solutions to address social inequities;
- Demonstrated knowledge of Delta immigration/other social development trends, issues, programs and policies;
- Familiarity with Delta social service infrastructure;
- Understanding and knowledge of health equity and the intersectoral action approach to addressing communitylevel challenges;
- Demonstrated ability in project management and coordinating large scale communitybased projects with tight timelines;
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate community engagement processes and building partnerships;
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability to conduct communitybased research and survey analysis;
- Knowledge in social policy and health inequities issues especially related to racialized communities;
- Strong communication (oral and written) and organizational skills;
- Ability to work independently and in a team setting and ability to meet deadlines in a complex and fast paced environment;
- Working knowledge of the role of municipal government and the role of City staff in a variety of settings; experience working acrossdepartmentally;
- Knowledge and technical competencies in Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
- Fluency in an additional language is desirable.
