Your role


CBC Regina is looking for an experienced News Editor/Presenter to research, write and present our Weekday morning radio newscasts for Regina and Saskatchewan audiences.

As the morning newsreader, you play an integral editorial and leadership role in preparing and presenting our newscasts. You're CBC Regina-based voice in the mornings, keeping our audience informed about what's happening in their city and province. You must be an exceptional journalist and thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

You understand the diverse and changing landscape of Saskatchewan and the importance of reflecting all our communities in our content.

You're also comfortable adapting and shifting plans in order to react to breaking or developing news.

You should be comfortable interacting with the host of our morning radio show, The Morning Edition.- Demonstrated understanding and awareness of issues and events particular to Regina and Saskatchewan.- Excellent journalistic decision-making skills, ensuring all CBC journalistic standards are met.- Excellent audio presentation skills and an engaging on-air presence.- Ability to read the news on air and present material with credibility and authority in a range of situations including live events and breaking news.- Ability to self-operate a studio audio board during a live newscast.- Ability to quickly cut audio clips from a variety of audio and video sources.- Ability to chase breaking news, when required.- Ability to work effectively under pressure and deadlines, reacting quickly to changing priorities and breaking news.- Strong writing and script-editing skills.- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.- Strong desire to live and promote the values of diversity and inclusive and respectful work culture.- Creative, flexible, and self-motivated.- Journalism degree or equivalent preferred.- Knowledge of issues particular to Regina and the province of Saskatchewan would be an asset.- Four years of comparable and relevant experience that demonstrates knowledge of the broadcasting industry preferred.- Ability to work a variety of shifts including early starts, late finishes, and weekends.
