Job Title:
Security Guard

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to maintain security and prevent unauthorized access
  • Patrol premises regularly to maintain order and establish a visible presence
  • Respond to alarms and investigate disturbances
  • Protect property from theft, fire, vandalism, or other hazards
  • Enforce rules and regulations of the premises
  • Monitor and operate CCTV cameras and other security equipment
  • Conduct security checks of the premises to ensure safety
  • Write reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences

Qualifications:

  • Proven work experience as a Security Guard or relevant position
  • Knowledge of legal guidelines for area security and public safety
  • Familiarity with report writing
  • Excellent surveillance and observation skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively
  • High school diploma or equivalent required

Note:
Loss prevention experience and familiarity with CCTV systems are preferred but not required.

Schedule:

  • Night shift

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Hamilton, ON L8M 1H3: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Education:

  • Secondary School (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

  • Security Guard Licence (preferred)
