ABOUT THE ROLE:


As the Coordinator, Student Aid and Awards at Huron University, you will play a crucial role in managing scholarship and financial aid programs for both domestic and international students.

Reporting to the AVP, Admissions and Institutional Systems, you will ensure compliance with University and Ministry policies while providing exemplary support to incoming and current students.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Authorize the allocation of student awards, bursaries, and financial aid in collaboration with the AVP & Admissions Office;
  • Stay up to date with financial legislation and policies to provide accurate advice to students and internal stakeholders;
  • Communicate policy changes effectively to stakeholders and tailor communication to diverse audiences;
  • Administer funding for all provinces and territories, including OSAP, while maintaining scholarship and financial aid records;
  • Provide guidance to students seeking information on scholarships, awards, and financial aid options;
  • Support incoming and returning fullscholarship students with understanding scholarship terms and organizing necessary resources;
  • Assist the Coordinator, Student Accounts during peak periods and provide backup to the finance team as needed;
  • Prepare tuition setaside budget and monitor spending against approved accounts;

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Undergraduate degree in a finance or accounting discipline from an accredited institution, or equivalent education and experience;
  • A minimum of five (5) years experience in a financial administrative support role, preferably in a postsecondary or educational setting;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, Salesforce, PeopleSoft, and Student Information Systems (SIS);
  • Knowledge of University policies, FIPPA, and Ministry of Colleges and Universities (MCU) policies and procedures;
  • Exceptional and wellhoned client/ customer service skills to represent Huron professionally in all interactions and with individuals at different levels of the organization;
  • Excellent data entry and problemsolving skills;
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and excel in a fastpaced environment with changing priorities;
  • Excellent time management skills and a demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines in a fastpaced environment;
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills and ability to interact positively and calmly with students, parents and internal/external stakeholders;
  • Willingness to participate fully in a team environment;
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve effectively and use good judgement in all decisions;
  • Energetic, organized, selfmotivated, collaborative, adaptable, and flexible.
