SWEEP WORKPLACE MENTOR - HOT DOG CART

Summer Students Program:
TERM until September 1st 2024, Full-Time, 80 Hours Bi-Weekly: Days

Eligibility for this grant position is years of age.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervises clients within the SWEEP work program including but not limited to the hot dog stand, Marymound kitchen placements including catering, and some yard work and maintenance in all seasons:
- Assists kitchen staff as directed by the Chef including cleaning and storing equipment and food supplies, stocking various supplies, setting up and delivery catering services and preparing rooms for meetings/events.
- Experience in customer service and food industry an asset o Ensure all customers are greeted in a professional and courteous manner.
- Load and unload all supplies for the day
- Stock and display items on the cart.
- Prepare Hot dogs for customers.
- Track Inventory of items on the truck
- Balance cash transaction at the end of shift and check with sales to ensure transactions match.
- Must be willing to work in hot weather (Sunscreen, water, rest breaks available as required) o Good interpersonal and communication skills o Excellent physical and emotional health
- Evaluates, records, and reports client progress as well as assess the personal and social development of each program participant.
- Manages behavioral dynamics as part of the individualized treatment process for the clients.
- Assumes joint responsibility in maintaining constant communication with care providers on matters relating to youth, staff and general operations.
- Roles models excellent customer service skills and strong work ethic.
- Assists in the various social enterprise endeavors with the outcome of transferring acquired skills into the community.
- Maintains health and safety standards.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Experience providing physical, psychological, and social support to atrisk youth or other vulnerable populations is preferred.
- Must be familiar with the developmental, educational, emotional, social, and recreational needs of children and youth.
- Working experience in hospitality/food preparation with sound knowledge of food safety standards is an asset.
- Experience working from a traumainformed perspective is preferred.
- Knowledge and experience in issue and supports related to addictions, harm reduction strategies, and/or sexual exploitation would be considered an asset.
- Valid First Aid/CPR is required.
- Mental health/crisis training certifications including NVCI (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention) and ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills) would be considered an asset.
- Willing to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate.
- Valid class 5 driver's license, and satisfactory driver's abstract.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record and clear Vulnerable Sector checks.
- Clear Child Abuse Registry and satisfactory Prior Contact checks.
- Exceptional multitasking and timemanagement skills, with the ability to autonomously prioritize tasks.
- Knowledge of Indigenous culture, or willingness to learn, including participating in cultural practices, programming and ceremonies alongside youth is an asset.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Basic computer knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office software.
- Physically able to perform the duties of the job.

Salary Range:
F1 $ $20.70
