Overview of Elim Counselling_**:


Elim Counselling is a Christian not-for-profit organization located in Ottawa, Ontario—offering professional psychotherapy by an experienced and caring team of counsellors.

For more than a decade, Elim Counselling has been working in our community, providing psychological services.

Our fees function on a sliding scale basis so that we can offer services to the widest range of individuals possible.

Ensuring our services are accessible to low-income clients is among our central values.


As a Christian organization, Elim offers clients the option of having faith-based counselling that merges spiritual practices, such as prayer and Biblical teachings, with traditional psychological approaches, such as cognitive behavioural therapy.

Our understanding of the faith community and their unique struggles and approach to life has made us a key resource to the Christian community.

However, we welcome all clients with open arms and also offer purely non-faith based counselling as well.

We work with individuals and families to overcome a wide range of mental health challenges and trauma, and to cultivate healthy relationships.

Responsibilities:_

  • Offer counselling to individuals and couples, in person and virtually
  • Organize and maintain client records
  • Participate in one hour monthly team meeting to review cases

Required Qualifications:_

  • Master's degree in social work, counselling or other university degree relevant to the practice of counselling and psychotherapy from a recognized institution
  • Member in good standing of a Professional College (OCSWSSW or CRPO)
  • Experience working as a Psychotherapist or MSW Therapist, with appropriate supervision
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, organizational and administrative skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as effectively in a teamoriented environment
  • Ongoing commitment to professional growth and development
  • Current (within 3 months) clear criminal reference check with vulnerable sector search
  • Proof of professional liability insurance
  • Commitment to Elim's values
  • Ability to provide Christian counselling, as well as traditional psychotherapy
  • Bilingualism is considered an asset

Part Time Contract Position_

This position is a flexible part-time position with the possibility of becoming a full-time position in the future.
