About the Position


Reporting to the Production Manager, the Supervisor, Welding is responsible for the supervision, coordination, and effective scheduling of workers to meet production targets and quality standards.

Responsibilities will include the training of staff in welding methods, safety, policies and procedures, as well as the identification and correction of potential work problems and health and safety issues.


Responsibilities

  • Supervise, coordinate, and schedule the activities of workers.
  • Identify, investigate, correct and document potential environmental and safety problems.
  • Establish methods to meet work schedules and coordinate work activities with other units.
  • Resolve work problems and recommend measures to improve productivity and product quality.
  • Coordinate repairs and tooling changeovers.
  • Manage performance issues and conduct performance evaluations.
  • Identify training needs for their department.
  • Train staff in job duties, safety procedures and company policies and procedures.
  • Train staff in welding fundamentals (Hands on).

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a related field.
  • Certified CWB Welding Supervisor.
  • Robotic welding experience is an asset.
  • Minimum of 3 years' supervisory experience with demonstrated motivating, training, appraising and general supervisory skills.
  • Experience in a union environment is an asset.
  • Leadership ability and team building skills to effectively supervise employees.
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Good computer and data entry skills including use of MS Word and Excel
  • Welldeveloped problemsolving skills
  • Able to find new methods and principles and ability to incorporate them into existing practices as needed.
