Great Canadian is a premier Roofing and Siding company in Western Canada. For over 20 years we have built a professional and organized firm and are currently seeking an experienced and qualified Senior Construction Estimator to join our team.

The Senior Construction Estimator will be responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of full-cost estimates for residential and small commercial exterior construction projects, including materials and labour. (S)he will be tasked with preparing and maintaining a list of suppliers and establishing unit costs, labour rates, productivity factors and location impacts.

This is a full-time permanent position on a 40 hour work week (8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday).

Duties & Responsibilities:

· Prepares manual and CAD (computer-assisted design) drawings, specifications, cost estimates and listings of quantities of material from conceptual drawings and instructions.

· Prepares contract and bidding documents.

· Prepares and present design proposals using computer-aided design (CAD) and traditional drawing methods.

· Produces, analyzes and advises on detailed specifications for suitable materials or processes to be used.

· Obtains and evaluates tenders and contracts.

· Responsible for the preparation of full cost estimates on conceptual, design-build or general tender work.

· Prepares materials, labour and equipment cost estimations necessary to successfully carry out a construction project according to proposals, plans, estimates and specifications.

· Analyzes and prepares received requests for proposals (RFP).

· Establishes unit costs, labour rates, productivity factors and location impacts.

· Evaluates and recommends allowances for indirect costs, design unknowns, escalation and contingency.

· Prepares estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work.

· Reviews all final estimate packages to ensure accuracy and completeness, prior to formal quotation.

· Performs additional assignments per supervisor's direction.

Experience & Qualifications:

· 3-5 year's experience in a Construction Estimating role is an asset

· Completion of a College or University program in Architectural Technology or a related subject is required.

· Experience in residential and/or small commercial construction cost estimation.

· Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with all levels of the organization.

· Able to apply the right mathematical methods and formulas to problem solving.

· Demonstrated ability to exercise necessary cost control measures.

· Ability to read and interpret building specifications, blueprints and as-builds.

· Mathematical skills and analytical skills necessary to do material and labour estimates.

· Ability to use cost-estimating software to prepare cost quotes and bids.

· Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (excel, word, etc.)
