About the role


As an Internal Auditor, you will be responsible for conducting assurance and/or consulting/advisory engagements in line with the Professional Standards of the Institute of Internal Auditors.

This role can be performed from our Toronto or Ottawa offices, following a hybrid model approach. #LI-Hybrid

We trust you will be up to the challenge

  • Perform all phases (planning, fieldwork, reporting and followup) of an assurance, or consulting assignments, based on approved audit programs, under the direction of the Senior Internal Auditor and/or the Director Internal Audit
  • Conduct quarterly testing of Internal Controls over Financial Reporting
  • Develop continuous auditing tools and methodologies and ensure that documentation and key databases are kept up to date
  • Draft documents for Director's approval and provide technical and drafting support for documents prepared by the Director
  • Prepare process narratives, flowcharts and working papers in accordance with the requirements of the Professional Standards of the Institute of Internal Auditors
  • Assist in the preparation of the Annual Riskbased Audit plan
  • Develop and maintain Internal Audit frameworks and operating manuals (e.g., ICFR Framework, Internal Audit Manual etc.)
  • Conduct research on engagement topics, collecting data from internal and external sources
  • Acquire knowledge of CDIC's operations and environment. Become familiar with the key components of deposit insurance, such as premium determination, provision calculation and insurance determination.
  • Responsible for maintenance of audit electronic working papers and maintains Internal Audit's site on SharePoint
  • Assist in mentoring coop students and other junior staff

  • Degree in a businessrelated area and designation or working towards designation (CIA, CA, CGA, CPA, CMA)
  • 23 or more years of relevant experience
  • Experience in accounting, internal controls, and/or risk management
  • Ability to perform assurance and consulting engagements according to International Internal Audit Standards issued by The Institute of Internal Auditors
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with a team of competent highly professional employees
  • Strong technical/analytical capabilities
  • Good understanding of information technology and organizational governance
  • Ability and desire to continuously learn new skills, including software, automated systems, and tools
