Thinking of a career change to find more secure employment, full-time hours or a better wage?


Career and Employment Community Services (CECS) in Barrie, ON is a provincially funded employment service provider that has helpful resources for job seekers and employers in our local area.


This is a free government funded service to support those that may face barriers to employment, achieve their career goals.


The government has set specific requirements and criteria for clients in order to be eligible to work with a consultant and access assisted services.

To access assisted services, you must meet all of the following:

  • Out of school (full time students are not eligible for our assisted services)
  • Currently unemployed or underemployed (working LESS than 20 hours per week)
  • Looking for work in and living in the Barrie area
  • Be legally eligible to work in Canada as a Permanent Resident or Canadian citizen only
  • You must provide your SIN to the employment service consultant at your first appointment
*Please note: Those with a work or student permit are not eligible for assisted services.

Our employment services consultants will help you with:

  • career planning and decision making to help you choose a career path
- apprenticeship pathway support and program navigation
- resumé and cover letter development as well as interview tips
- access to exclusive local job opportunities and the hidden job market
- job search assistance
- career-related in-person and virtual workshops and assistance

These services are funded by Employment Ontario and the Government of Canada
