Athabasca University's AVP Student Services Division is currently recruiting for the position of Registrar.

Reporting to the Associate Vice President, Student Services, the Registrar provides visionary and operational leadership to the Office of the Registrar, ensuring excellence in the delivery of registrarial services to all stakeholders. They are a strategic leader focused on supporting exceptional experiences at the University through creative and sustainable approaches to process and systems design and management.

The Registrar provides this leadership and vision while ensuring the confidentiality of personal data, accuracy of records, and appropriate and timely access to information. They work collaboratively with the University community and academic committees to support academic policy development. The Registrar cultivates collaborative working relationships with institutional leadership, faculty, and staff. The Registrar acts as a central communication resource for academic and policy information related to student records management. The Registrar is responsible for the maintenance and integrity of the academic record.

In all facets of this role, the Registrar integrates and advances the University's commitments to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI), Indigenous Peoples and communities, and conciliation. The Registrar works closely with the AVP, EDI and AVP, Indigenous to ensure registrar services are accessible and inclusive to AU's diverse student population. They contribute to a healthy and safe university environment by ensuring EDI principles are upheld in all student information.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant field
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of progressive managerial and leadership experience in a post-secondary environment is required
  • Demonstrated experience in the development, maintenance and application of academic policy
  • Demonstrated and significant experience in the management and use of information systems to support effective business process
  • Formal training and experience in leadership and change management
  • Formal training and experience in leadership and change management
  • Develop and deliver the decommissioning of legacy systems to remove technical debt from AU digital estate. This includes data extracting and archiving where required e.g. multiple CRM (Customer Relationship Management) systems
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
  • Experience in organizational planning and resource allocation
  • A commitment to high quality of service
  • Experience with management of highly computerized systems.
