Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Postsecondary degree, preferably at the Masters level, in Nursing.
  • Extensive experience in public health nursing, programming, policy development, program management, applied research, or health care.
  • Experience in the planning, research, design, development, implementation and evaluation of policies and programs involving complex and dynamic issues.
  • Experience in leading or supervising staff including coaching, mentoring and managing performance.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and decisionmaking skills to formulate recommendations to senior leaders.
  • Knowledge of the health care system, regionally, provincially and nationally, with emphasis on public health nursing.
  • Strong written communication skills to prepare documents for executive decisionmakers and diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong verbal communication skills to communicate to all levels of the organization and to communicate to external stakeholders.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills for building and maintaining positive working relationships and partnerships with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) and project management software.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills including the ability to respond to changing priorities and meet deadlines.

Duties:


Reporting to the Director, Public Health Information Systems, the Public Health Program Consultant serves as a leader in public health and public health nursing programs and initiatives providing support to all Public Health staff, the regions and other key stakeholders.

This includes providing public health and public health clinical nursing consultation regarding the planning, development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of policy options, protocols, standards of practice and major program initiatives, or significant portions thereof, in the area of public health including communicable disease prevention and control and/or epidemiology and surveillance.
