Job Summary

  • The manager, as a leader and member of the management team within the program/clinical area is responsible and accountable for the coordination and direction of all patient care related activities within the area.
  • All unit personnel assigned to the clinical area report directly to the manager with regards to patient care and staff issues.
  • The manager will be responsible for planning, and coordinating activities within the Radiation Therapy department, including recruitment, budgeting, and developing and implementing new technologies and processes.
  • He/she provides an environment that supports and advances professional practice.
  • He/she leads the team in implementing evidencebased practices that are sensitive to limited resources within a patient centred care philosophy.
  • He/she role models professional and organizational core competencies.

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in a health related discipline
  • Diploma from a recognized Radiation Therapy Program
  • Possess or willing to work towards a Masters degree
  • Registered with the College of Medical Radiation Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO)
  • Active member of Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT)
  • Other professional affiliations as appropriate
  • 10 years recent and relevant experience preferred
  • 2 years of leadership experience preferred
  • Strong clinical radiation therapy background essential
  • Management certification preferred
  • Demonstrates strong knowledge in radiation therapy practice.
  • Experience with participating in and/or leading researchbased studies and the utilization of best practice.
  • Demonstrated excellence in communication, both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem assessment skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service and teamwork
  • Demonstrated individual leadership skills
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership, support and critical analysis in stressful, complex clinical and emotional situations.
  • Ability to analyse research and implement evidencebased practice into Policy and Procedure development and clinical practice.
  • Demonstrates understanding and complies with patient and staff safety policies and procedures that foster a safe and inclusive environment for all.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Facilitates the planning and implementation of services to accomplish annual goals and objectives consistent with the vision of Southlake Regional Health Centre and the Stronach Regional Cancer Centre
  • Facilitate and maintain the ongoing relationship with the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre
  • Lead the interaction between the Radiation therapy departments of Princess Margaret Cancer Centre and Southlake Regional Cancer Centre
  • Determine, develop, approve and maintain policies and procedures and the standards of radiation therapy practice, which promote excellence in patient care and reflect the vision, goals and objectives of the radiation medicine program and SRCC and conform to the Regulations and Standards of Practice of the CMRITO
  • Ensure changes to policies and procedures, legislation and guidelines are communicated
  • Facilitates continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Facilitates changes in the delivery of services, which are recommended by legislative, governing and accrediting standards.
  • Leads clinical implementation activities for radiation therapy capital projects.
  • Key leadership role in preparation for accreditation reviews.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of SRHC, SRCC
