Description:


Transitional Housing Managers provide direction and support to a diverse staffing component, promote the growth and development of SCP's Transitional Housing program, promote agency culture, champion agency approaches, and oversee team performance.

Working closely with the Director of Transitional Housing and the Transitional Housing Team, they oversee the daily operations of SCP's Peer homes and Youth Shelter.


Additional responsibilities include creating and implementing professional development plans, overseeing disciplinary concerns/processes, maintaining employee personnel files, scheduling, training, coaching, evaluating and supporting the transitional housing team.

Transitional Housing Managers are expected to comply with industry standards/best practice, meet contract and stakeholder requirements, and adhere to SCP policies, processes, protocols, and mandated approaches in the completion of their duties and fulfillment of their role.


Qualifications (Education & Experience)- Secondary completion required, post secondary in human services preferred

  • Minimum 2 years front line youth care experience required
  • Manager or supervisory experience strongly preferred
  • Knowledge and experience in:

  • Coaching, development, and performance evaluation
  • Nonviolent communication and motivational interviewing
  • Identifying gaps, resource allocation
  • Crisis management
  • Case planning and case management
  • Preference will be given to applicants experience in working with
  • Ministry of Social Services, Child & Family Services, & Community Resources
  • Youth with exceptionalities, gang involvement, generational Trauma/PTSD/CPTSD
  • Indigenous populations, vulnerable populations
  • Individuals experiencing current/previous exploitation
  • Individuals managing substance use and/or mental health concerns
  • Human services, front line youth support/youth care workers
  • Non profit organizations

Scheduling KPIs and Measurables/Outputs
- _Update changes to shift parameters, rotations, and employee availability within 24 hours_
- _Review and update schedules weekly to be sure hours worked, shifts scheduled, and shift vacancies are accurately reflected in the system_
- _Ensure time off requests are submitted within the system and responded to within one week_
- _Create and adhere to scheduling templates and program automations to ensure compliance with agency policy, applicable contracts, and legislation/regulations_
- _Enter all changes to schedules the same shift the information is received_
- _Address all scheduling errors the same shift they are brought to your attention_
- _Barring unexpected or emergency circumstances fill vacant shifts at least 1 week in advance_
- _Ensure the crisis line is covered during supervisor illness or absence_

Probationary Staff KPIs and Measurables/Outputs
- _Ensure all training/qualification requirements are met during the probationary period_
- _Ensure all shadow/training shifts are completed prior to being scheduled independently_
- _Ensure onboarding/orientation checklists are complete and uploaded to personnel files_
- _Solicit and document team and youth feedback for new staff during probationary period_
- _Ensure initial professional development plan assessment is completed 2 weeks prior to the end of the probationary period and new staff are moved from probationary to permanent status_

Staff Supervision KPIs and Measurables/Outputs
- _Develop (and comply with) a schedule that ensures weekly overlap with all supervisors and full time day staff and weekly rotating coverage of peer homes and shelter_
- _Barring meetings, training, or professional development work all shifts onsite at the shelter, peerhomes, or head office (with director approval)_

- _Acquire and maintain official accreditation, T4T, or equivalent in a minimum of 1 SCP sanctioned approach and provide group and individual training
