The Impact You'll Make in this Role

As an Electrical Technologist, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

Supporting manufacturing operations in electrical controls, programming, software, and application support for; weblines, automation, robotics, vision, motion control, PLC and SCADA systems The successful candidate will provide daily support and engineering expertise and technical assistance for (1) the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and modification of highly technical automated equipment, (2) development of maintenance procedures and techniques to support safe, reliable and efficient implementation of factory automation to include Robotics, Vision Systems, Integration Software, Motion and Control Systems. This person will be expected to be self-motivated and resourceful with a willingness to drive business results improvement. In this position it is critical to have good interpersonal and team skills necessary to perform effectively in a variety of cross functional team situations. Initiate, recommend and lead programs to improve safety, quality, service, and cost Participate and lead Process and Productivity Improvement projects. Perform and guide technical activities leading to innovative application and extension of existing or new products/technologies.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

Electrical Engineering Technologist and/or Engineering degree (completed and verified prior to start)

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

Excellent programming skills in PLC, Drives & Controls, AutoCAD electrics, Solidworks Two (2) years experience in a manufacturing and/or industrial environment. Strong electro-mechanical troubleshooting skills in automation and robotics Some knowledge in the following drive/controls platforms will be considered an asset: ABB, Alan Bradley, Schneider etc Experience in machine vision implementations; Keyence, Cognex. Ability to create and modify electrical drawings, process & instrumentation diagrams and schematics when required. Solid understanding of hydraulic and transmission systems will be an asset. Demonstrated proficiency in project management. Must be willing to work "hands-on" in the manufacturing area. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Knowledge of Ontario Electrical Code and Occupational Health & Safety Act, Standards and guidelines
