Job Summary:


Reporting to the Manager, Public Health Communications & Engagement, the Stakeholder Engagement Advisor extends Public Health & Emergency Management Services' impact on health and health equity through productive relationships with physicians and primary care providers, the broader health care sector and other key stakeholders.

This role supports all departmental programs who engage with these target audiences to represent and aid in outreach, consultation, public education and knowledge exchange.

Maintaining accountability and building trust, the role maximizes effectiveness and efficiency of communication methods and initiatives, professionally and strategically orients and strengthens existing partnerships, identifies and initiates new partnership opportunities and ensures timeliness of communication.


Education:

  • Degree in communications, public administration, public relations or a healthrelated field
  • Master's level training in a relevant discipline is preferred (e.g., public health, communications or public relations)

Knowledge:

  • 5 years' experience in stakeholder engagement, conducting client consultation, needs assessment and evaluation
  • 3 years' experience communicating, managing and maintaining productive partnerships, managing expectations with community stakeholders and health professionals
  • 3 years' experience in developing & facilitating focus groups and interviews, stakeholder webinars and education sessions
  • Strong knowledge of the principles of physician, primary care and community stakeholder face to face and virtual engagement strategies
  • Experience with conducting and interpreting literature reviews is preferred
  • Experience in developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating engagement and consultation plans as well as supporting the development of communications strategies and plans
  • Previous project experience with primary care and/or physician engagement is preferred
  • Highly developed interpersonal, oral, public speaking, facilitation, collaboration, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully developing, managing and executing stakeholder engagement plans and programs

Responsibilities:

Internally in consultation with department and program areas develops, plans, and collaborates on the physician, primary care and community stakeholder engagement strategy and work plan ensuring that Niagara Region Public Health & Emergency Management Services can successfully engage and communicate with the primary care sector.

(40%)_**- Provides leadership through the development of plans, tools and an overall approach which guides engagement work between Public Health & Emergency Management Services and community stakeholders and health professionals

  • Furthers the department's stakeholder engagement work and creates opportunities for strengthening relationships to address gaps in health needs in Niagara
  • Supports organizational development and identifies opportunities for growth and improvement in how Public Health & Emergency Management Services engages with community stakeholders and health professionals
  • Provides strategic advice
