About the role
Canadian Blood Services is looking for a regular full-time Manager, Strategy Planning and Business Integration to join our dynamic Strategic Performance team in our Medical Affairs and Innovation division .

The Strategic Performance team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services through the provision of strategic planning and integration services for the Medical Affairs and Innovation division. The team works closely with the VP and other senior leadership to represent the division using a broad range of planning, performance and communication vehicles. In this role, you will deliver a series of strategic planning and integration management activities, support the division with the design of business strategies as well as lead strategic projects for the Medical Affairs and Innovation division.

Formula for success

Leveraging your excellent planning and organizational skills, you will support and guide the MAI division leadership on strategy planning, execution, reporting, and risk management. Drawing on your ability to navigate ambiguity and see the 'big picture', you will support the division with the design of multi-year business strategies. Using your proven capabilities in leading projects and excellent communication skills, you will lead key divisional projects to ensure projects remain on track and focused on benefit realization. Utilizing your ability to lead and work collaboratively across diverse teams, you will facilitate integration activities within the division and with other Canadian Blood Services divisions in support of corporate planning processes to ensure execution of key strategic and operational priorities. Harnessing your knowledge and expertise, you will support the Director, Strategy Planning and Integration and the Vice President of Medical Affairs and Innovation in the area of issue management and executive committee support, including issues identification, analyses and development of recommendations. Concentrating on your prioritization and strong interpersonal skills, you will support the portfolio management process within the division, including the development of proposals and business cases. You will be responsible for supporting leads in preparation of all required committee materials, e.g., briefing notes, presentation content, and follows up on open action items. Focusing on your strong coordination skills and attention to detail, you will analyse issues and opportunities, prepare supporting documentation, such as white papers, environmental scan, proposals, and business cases to outline options and recommendations. Ensure varying opinions are included in assessments.

Desired education and skills

Completion of a university degree in a relevant discipline, preferably business, life sciences, engineering, from a recognized institution; a master's degree will be considered an asset. Knowledge and understanding of project management, portfolio management and change management processes. Project management certification will be considered an asset. 7 to 10 years of progressive experience at the leadership level in the area of business management, planning, strategy formulation and execution. Experience in health care, biotechnology, pharmaceutical or blood banking industry at the leadership level will be considered an asset. Experience in strategy consulting is considered an asset. Proven capabilities in leading projects. Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation delivery.

This role will work in a hybrid environment with requirements to be onsite at Canadian Blood Services location 40% of the time/ 2 days of the week. You may be required to travel to Ottawa annually for team meetings, and as required.
