The Social Services Aide work diligently to secure suitable housing options for those in need.

They engage with landlords to find appropriate housing options for chronically homeless individuals and families, helping them achieve stable and secure housing.

Housing Retention services include various forms of support, such as housing searches, transportation, application assistance, referrals to income support programs, training on landlord-tenant laws, eviction prevention, and time-limited case management.

These services contribute to the success of finding and maintaining a home.
College diploma or equivalent post-secondary formal study related to social and/or women related services work.
Bachelor of Social Work or currently enrolled in a program, is preferred.

EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:
Experience working with homelessness.
Functional knowledge and understanding of women issues related to homelessness, mental health and addictions.
Thorough knowledge and understanding of and a commitment to anti-racism, anti-oppression, and equity.
Good knowledge of community resources.

SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES:
The responsibilities associated with this position demand a high degree of confidentiality.
Strong oral and written communication skills are
Computer skills are essential.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Must have good interpersonal/time management skills.

Valid Ontario Class "G" Driver's License and a current copy of a Driver's abstract for review and verification that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required.

Ability to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening.

Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
