Duties:


The Technical Security Analyst is responsible for providing technical advice and input in the development, delivery, maintenance and continuous update of IT security systems in order to support the Centre's business, information technology and business continuity requirements.


  • Analyzes and monitors technical systems and perimeters for suspicious activities, provides response to these events and activities, and recommends corrective action to address deficiencies in design and configuration to ensure the sound security posture of FINTRAC.
  • Conducts assessment exercises of various components of new or upgraded IT systems or security patches in order to identify vulnerability and test the effectiveness of security controls in IT systems.
  • Analyzes, evaluates and diagnoses technical problems, deficiencies or other issues at the server and/or desktop level and provides reports and recommendations to the Team Leader.
  • Documents IT security operational processes and procedures in accordance with FINTRAC's operational requirements and security policies and provides technical advice and input.
  • Provides technical advice and input on the effectiveness of IT security controls, safeguards and systems; identifies, advises on and recommends approaches and initiatives to managing IT security technologies that incorporate a robust risk management framework.
  • Provides technical support to advance the achievement of IT security projects or projects involving the Technical Security Services; conducts research into a broad range of new IT security products evaluates and provides input for new products being considered to improve FINTRAC security controls.

EDUCATION
