Advanced Inspection and Maintenance division. This role is based out of our office in

Pickering, ON which supports both the Pickering and Darlington Nuclear Generating Stations.

  • The

Manager, Technology Development Projects is accountable for projects ranging from $5-$150 million, including project initiation, development and execution. This role includes exposure and experience with stakeholders throughout the Nuclear industry - including top vendors in the area of technology development, innovation and project execution to ensure contract deliverables are completed safely, on time; on budget and with quality.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Ensure safety, integration, scope management, schedule management, cost management, quality management, resource management, communications management, risk management, procurement/contract management and oversight are executed in accordance to the programs and standards established by the organization for projects.
  • Set and manage team priorities to leverage strengths and ensure projects are supported and executed per the approved Business Case Summaries and Project Management Plans.
  • Coordinate work activities, and review and eliminate barriers to achieve results.
  • Provide a safe, healthy and motivating work environment.
  • Ensure that project costs are correctly allocated, controlled, and reported with timely project status reporting; close out projects with appropriate turnover documentation.
  • Perform analysis on performance results and identify impacts on projects; implement appropriate earned value and forecasting methods with project reports.
  • Plan and coordinate execution of design package activities in accordance with approved Ontario Power Generation Nuclear (OPGN) standards, including required testing and verification activities to ensure modification meets the design and operability requirements (i.e. commissioning); promote the use of industry proven project management best practices.
  • Lead and coach a team capable of producing the required outputs and results; manage the staff and Unit and achieve the approved programs and targeted results, motivating and driving the outputs of teams.
  • Encourage, monitor, and take corrective action as needed to promote effective interfaces with Supply Chain, Finance, sponsors and other stakeholder organizations.
  • Demonstrate stewardship of OPG's assets and resources; explore alternatives and recommend options to achieve project objectives.
  • Prepare detailed scope of work documents for retention of contacted services.
  • Execute contract administration, contract monitoring and contract management activities.
  • Own project schedules, and establish and maintain schedules for all deliverables in the applicable scope.
  • Support contract negotiations to ensure value for money on projects that are being executed.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Science or Business is required; and
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA), or Project Management Professional (PMP) designation, is considered an asset.
