Job Description:

SGS is looking for Qualified Safety inpectors on the TransCanada Pipeline through Northern Ontario and Manitoba

  • The Safety Inspector Is responsible to ensure the company is in compliance with all Safety regulations, company policies and specifications.
  • The Safety Inspector is the Company's authorized representative for nonfinancial matters and is to inspect and coordinate the Safety aspects on all construction projects and ensure conformance with the Company OH&S Specifications.
  • The Safety Inspector ensures that the project proceeds in accordance with the contract safety requirements and that all necessary construction documentation is compiled and transmitted to the Project Manager.
  • Depending on organizational structure, the Safety Inspector role may be filled by a contract employee or company employee (Construction Safety Specialist classification).
  • The Safety Inspector reports directly to the Assistant Construction Manager/Chief Inspector and possesses project stop work authority.

Qualifications:

  • API 1169 certification preferred all levels
  • Carries a CSO (Construction Safety Officer) certification, or equivalent;
  • Specifically trained in one or more of the following (or equivalent training and experience):
  • CSTS;
  • PSTS;
  • STEP;
  • OSHA 40 Hour;
  • Leadership for Safety Excellence;
  • Supervisor Training in Accident Reduction Techniques;
  • Safety Training for Jobsite Supervisors; and/or
  • Certified Member training; and
  • Preference for university certificate in occupational health and safety

Level
3 and 4 additional requirements

  • 10 years of experience in health and safety preferred
  • Preference for CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional ) certification
